Referee’s aren’t always the most popular people on a football field whether Sunday League or the Premier League. They are constantly bombarded with criticism both on the pitch and off it, in the media and so forth, and the views and reasoning of an official, perhaps following a disputed decision or a seemingly wrong or unfair call during a match, are very rarely shown in the press.
My name’s Tom Finney, I’m 15 and I’m a level 8 referee. My aim is to provide a voice for all referees. I will post refereeing news, my opinions on controversial refereeing decisions and moments in matches, and occasionally posts on my own refereeing experiences and my journey towards high level football refereeing. I am starting this blog because, as well as being an aspiring referee, I am also an aspiring journalist, and together with a love for football, i can bring together an amalgamation of many of my interests and if i could maybe interest you while doing so, then what’s the harm in giving it a go.
I would really appreciate it, if you enjoy my posts or have any tips for me or any queries to let me know via the comments sections down below or via twitter:@finneytom1 or email:firstname.lastname@example.org.
